For more than four decades, North Attleboro area resident John Egan has been teaching mathematics at such schools as Portsmouth Middle School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Westport Middle School in Westport, Massachusetts; and Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. His current position is at Bishop Stang High and sees him teaching geometry, algebra 1, and algebra 2. John Egan of the North Attleboro also helps run school dances at the institution. Throughout his career, he has run more than 500 school dances, including the annual freshman/sophomore dance at Bishop Stang, which he created in 2010.
Outside of his work as a teacher, Mr. Egan is an avid sports fan. A long-time fan of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, and Providence College basketball, he enjoys sports at all levels. He was a basketball coach for middle school teams for 35 seasons, and is fond of watching both his students and grandchildren play sports. Mr. Egan also enjoys traveling and going on cruises. Over the years, he has been to such places as the Bahamas, Ireland, Alaska, Florida, and Kentucky. He is also fond of attending flea markets and yard sales, as well as visiting Memorial Park and shopping at different malls, such as the Swansea Mall.
